Throwies are a revolution in temporary art: invented by the Graffiti Research Lab, they can stick to anything that is ferromagnetic and glow for about two weeks. On December 8th, we will create a thousand points of light when we decorate a massive surprise with colourful brilliance. Each participant will be given a handful of these delightful devices and let loose simultaneously :)

Environmental statement: We are no longer using batteries that contain heavy metals in this art installation. However, we will do our best to recycle all the batteries we can :-)

This was an incredible experience-and the throwies were not only an interesting way to glow but fun to hear the showers of them rain down on the street cars!!!

Oh my god! Friday was seriously the best night of my entire life! Thank you so much to everyone who put this together, and everyone who stuck it out until the end, I love you all so much!
I've been going though some dark times lately, and everything that happened on friday pulled me out of it... You guys literally saved my life, thank you eternally! <3

we were expecting a MUCH smaller turnout, perhaps 150 people, who would have been much easier to communicate to without amplified sound. at this size, the event kind of took a life of its own, but it was a very fun night :)

i hope you didn't feel excluded: a lot of people are hung up on the word "Überave" appearing on this page: that is just the name of our friends' free events group.

was only planning to stay for the illumination anyway, as rave isn't really my scene, but it didn't really go off as planned, i guess.
a decent idea, although i thought it would have been better to do up a building or something that would have stuck around for people to look at. the morons throwing lights at cars didn't help the event either, as im sure that added to the cops annoyance with the group. if it was my car, i would not have been sitting there as metal things were thrown at my car, and when police see people drinking outside and throwing things at cars, they're not likely to leave you alone to party the rest of the night.
allinall, a good attempt, ruined by some bad planning and a handful of morons.
next time i hope you have more success and try to expand the circle a bit mroe to be not just a rave party, but more of a community event that would bring different segments of the city together, instead of ravers throwing things at "others"

I'm really happy that despite the fact that NOTHING went according to plan, the event was amazing and mindblowing. it was the spontaneity that made it so good. dancing on the streetcar tracks, the sidewalk, in tim hortons, in aisle 6 of dominions, the parking lot, it was incredible. There was a point when I was really worried that the event was going to die. The afterparty had been busted and the Uberave kids were feeling discouraged, I was getting tired dragging the soundsystem around, and the crowd was getting frustrated. But when I saw Kevin in Tim Horton's and went in to ask him if he had any ideas or if he knew what was going on, that incredible bastard must have had god whispering in his ear. "Bring the soundsystem in here." was all he said. That double-double of a crazy crowd and loud music set the stage for the rest of the night. The cops had been on our ass all night but we out there to party and nothing would stop us. After a brief dance in timmy's, the manager kicked us out and on the other side of the street, like the star of bethlehem, was the beckoning glow of the Dominion's sign. The music went off and a "shhh" sound spread through the crowd. I told the people around me to meet me and the soundsystem in the cereal aisle. That instruction spread through the group and a minute later we were packed in with wonderbread on one side and Fruit Loops on the other. The music went on, the crowd went wild, the manager got pissed. Back on the street. People are starting to scatter, we aren't sure where to go next. Someone yells out "I know where there's an underground parking lot!" It's close and we decide to go for it. we carry the soundsystem down the stairs and discover an underground oasis. We find a good spot to set up, turn on the music, take out the lightbulbs, put up the glowsticks/throwies, and the rest is history. It was epic.

Love and respect to Newmindspace, Uberave, and everyone who came out.

Heyy everyone, friday was fun! I gather an afterparty did take place in a parking garage after all. I must say I'm a little disappointed I missed that. I think it had to do with all the confusion that happend after the illumination. First it was cancelled, then it wasn't kind of thing. Anyways, I know how hard these events are to make happen perfectly. And I had enough fun partying in Timmy Hos and Dominion.
